Children's Museum and Cousins

Heidi's cousins came to visit yesterday. (Of course, they brought their mom and dad too.) We met them at the Indianapolis Children's museum for awhile. It was great fun. I have been there before with nieces and nephews but this was my first visit taking my own child. Heidi and I played in the Playscapes area while her cousins watched a play. Then we all went for a ride on the carousel. (I won't tell you how many times I had to try to spell that word...took awhile for spell check to finally recognize what I was trying to spell.) After the museum trip everyone came back to our house for some play time. It was a great day!

Playing in "the nest" area, a contained padded play place were babies can roam free.

"Ok mommy, I am done with this area. Let's go explore the other areas."

Exploring. There were lots of baby height things for kids to play with. There was one wall with light switches on it. We skipped that. The light switch in the nursery is right above the crib. Once when I went in after a nap, Heidi was standing up in her crib and had flipped on the light. It's been a singular occurrence and I don't want her to learn about it. Well...any sooner than she will eventually.

Listening to the chirps when the bird house door is opened.

Watching the flowers swirl around and around.

Playing with sand. She liked picking it up out of my hands. They also had a similar water play area, which we skipped this round. If playing in that was going to be anything like bath time, I foresaw much splashing and water everywhere. I didn't need a bath and I didn't bring a change of clothes...for either of us.

Going to make some music. The bells kept seeming to want to find their way into Heidi's mouth, so we had to move on to something else. There was a xylophone area where Heidi liked to swing the mallet and "dance" to the music the other children were making. Dancing to her is bouncing up and down, sometimes waving her arms.

At first she was a little uncertain about the carousel ride. When we were waiting in line she was her usual squirmy self, hard to hold on to, but then when the music started, she was entranced.

Sticking her out tongue for a picture. While we were going around she would wave to the people standing in line. So cute!!!

Safe to say that she was tired out from her trip to the museum!

All smiles after a nap!

She had a fun time playing with her cousins.

Me, my sister and the kids. While not all smiles for the camera, at least all kids were all looking in the right direction!
