Easter Weekend: Day 1 - Egg Hunt

This year we are spending Easter weekend at home. Today there was an Easter egg hunt at the park near our house. We met some friends for it and had a wonderful time visiting with them. Below I have captured the day in pictures.

This afternoon we will just hang out at home, probably go for a walk around town. It's sooooo nice out! I have the windows open and can hear the birds signing. Ben is out for a run and Heidi is taking a much needed nap after an exciting day.

Tomorrow we will go to church. Heidi will get dressed up in one of her dresses and we'll attempt to get some pictures with the Easter basket I made for her (thank you Pinerest!). We are also going out to eat at a local restaurant for Easter brunch. For dinner, we are going easy. I bought a small ham to heat up and will pop open a can of green beans (canned at a friends house last summer) I will also make some "special" mashed potatoes, which I don't make near enough for my meat-and-potatoes husband. (My sister-in-law makes this mashed potato recipe for our family meals...they go fast in that family!)

Ben is giving Heidi a pep talk before the hunt starts.

"Mommy! Do you see how many eggs are behind me!" (And this is just the 1-2 year old section!)

"Can I go yet?"

Still waiting...

And they're off!!!

An opportunistic boy walked by and almost snatched an egg out of Heidi's hand.

Heidi enjoyed the hunt. She would sit on her knees, bouncing up and down, with an egg in each hand, shaking them up and down to hear the rattle of the candy inside the shell. (Not quite sure I got the punctuation right with the comma's...never my strong suit. Slightly better than spelling...slightly.)

We met some friends at the park. It was a beautiful day and great to just be outside!

The dads with their girls. All are such great fathers and you call tell they really love their little girls...and wives, of course!

Georgiana is on the move! She has taken her first steps on her own and is soon to be walking all over the place. Watch out Mommy and Daddy! She's going to be taking her getting into everything to a whole new level soon!

Simone is a little over 2mo younger than Georgiana and Heidi. She may not be crawling yet, but with parents like hers, once she starts moving she is likely to never stop!

Tito the jungle gym. He was laying on the floor with Simone and the other girls crawled over to him. I think Georgiana is telling a story. Maybe about basketball, she is holding one! Simone and Heidi appear to be listening intently. Calvin (Georgiana's dad) mentioned he wanted to go to Hinkle Fieldhouse to "measure the basketball goals". Maybe that should be our next baby outing. The girls can work on some drools, oops I mean drills, while they are there. ;-)

The obligatory posed couch photo. Annnd...once again, it is impossible to get Heidi to pose for a picture, sitting calmly with her friends. Georgiana - always the pro at posing for the camera. Simone - being attacked by Heidi. Last time it was Rosemary who was subject to the grabbing (reference previous post, "Heidi and Friends - Part IV"). It seems she always goes left. Maybe that will be the side she dribbles too as well. :)

Heidi really does love to play with other babies. It's so fun to see them interact and play together, following each other around, "sharing" toys, and "loving" on each other. Heidi seems to be getting better at not pulling hair. We were at her friend Tipton's house yesterday and they played so well together. It was adorable! I wish I had gotten some pictures of it.

We really are blessed to have made such great friends.
